UNBURIED CORPSE
A FORTXTGIIT.IN THE MORGUE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Saturday. The Hospital authorities observe a close reticence regarding the case in whicli a ibody remained unburied for nearly a fortnight, but the facts are being gradually elicited. The patient, who was named John Wilson, and was 50 years of age, died from phthisis on June 1L The body was sent to the morgue in tlie Hospital grounds, and fit thei same time the patient's card, endorsed! -Dead," was forwarded to the Hospital office. At the office the card appears to have been filed at once. The death was registered, but the undertaker was not informed, and no arrangements were made for burial. No friends inquired for Wilson, and the body lay forgotten in the morgue until June 21. Arrangements were then made for the burial, which took place on June 23. This is tho position sn far as can be ascertained The' Hospital Committee will consider the case next week, and in the meantime the authorities decline to make a statement |
