PERFORMANCE AT PALMERSTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Sheffield Choir arrived by special train from Wellington, and gave a matinee concert to a packed audience in one of the big show ground halls. The audience included visitors from Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Taranaki, Wanganui, etc. The programme was a fine one, and included numbers from Handel and Bach. The choir received an enthusiastic reception, cheers being given by the audience. At the conclusion of the concert a large crowd attended at the station and heartily cheered the visitors as the train moved away. HELPING*A CHRISTCHURCH CAUSE. Christchurch, Last Night. Dr. Harriss, conductor of the Sheffield Choir, replying to the Mayor's request that the choir should give the proceeds of a matinee performance to the local coronation memorial fund, states that he will give one-half of the entire receipts of the Coronation Empire concert to be given by the choir here on Wednesday next.
