In the Assembly Mr. Wade continued the debate on the second reading of the Arbitration Bill, and declared that the greatest blot on the Bill was that the Government proposed drastically to punish strikers is registered under the Act, but not to punish them if unregis-. tered. The ringleaders of the strikes should be punished more heavily than the men who were misled. The' Bill proposed to treat them all similarly, A CONVICT'S DEATH. Received 28. 8.35 p.m. Hohart, June 28. The gaol superintendent states that Warder Driscoll, who shot and killed an escaping convict, obeyed his instructions in the spirit and manner intended. His second wife is Miss Campbell, daughter of a well-known New South Wales pastoralist. This is the third Minister married since Mr. Fisher's team took office.
