At the I'osehil! races, Wildwest ran second to Pompily in the Carlingford Handicap (a mile), ijcing beaten by a couple of lengths. THE UAN'GITIKEI CLUB. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Eangitikei Racing Club held a special meeting at Bulls on Saturday to consider the situation which has arisen out of the recommendation that its days of racing be given to the Marton Club, with which is is recommended to amalgamate. The position is that the club paid fully £5 per acre for one hundred acres at Bulls, and recently carried out considerable improvements. It oives £2050 on mortgage, a large proportion of which must be paid by August, 1012; also £2OO of overdraft. The land would not fetch anything like the cost for farming purposes, and it, cannot sell otherwise than subject to a lease of seven years to a number of grazing rights at £SO per annum, while its annual interest .bill is £145. As the club was the oldest in these parts, and the fourteenth oldest in New Zealand, it considers it should be allowed to race till it can meet its liabilities. While the commissioners have suggested that wherever there is a surplus in the event of a club winding up it is to be given to a hospital or to the club with which it is bidden to amalgamate, no provision appears to have been made where there is a liability which the other club should take over with the valuable privilege of extra days and monopoly. The Rangitikei Club resolved to ask the Minister to receive a deputation on its position to see if it could not race till clear. NAPIER PARK ACCEPTANCES. Napier, Last Night.
