The committee reported on both adversely, and it is now conceded that the path towards reciprocity is more diffiault than ever. The Republicans do not desire to accept Democratic Bills, and | have a strong objection to the Wool Bill ; in particular. The Democrats will prob--1 ably offer the Wool Bill as an amend- ' mcnt to reciprocity. A bitter fight is expected. FIGHTING DEMOCRATS. MR. ROOT PESSIMISTIC. Received 25, 5.5 p.m. Washington, June 24. Twelve Democratic senators have decided to vote against all amendments to the Reciprocity Bill. This action, it is explained, is likely to lead to the destruction of the Democratic-Insurgent Republican coalition. The consideration of Mr. Root's amendment is fixed for Monday, and several senators have privately admitted that there will be a vigorous effort vo ad& the Democratic amendments to the Reciprocity Bill in order to get it past the President. Mr. Root admits the likelihood of the defeat of his amendment. MR. TAFT'S DETERMINATION. Received 26, 12.30 a.m. Washington, June 25. Mr. Taft will veto any Tariff Bills submitted to Congress, and is determined to pass the Reciprocity Bill,
