At a meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association to-night, it was reported re holding the Davis Cup competition at Christchurch that the Lancaster Park Board of Control would offer the Australasian Association £SOO for the contest, the board to provide a first-class ground thoroughly suitable ■ for such a contest, and to pay all cost of stands, advertising, preparation of • ■ ground, etc., to pay the Australasian Association a clear sum of £SOO, and take the whole of the takings from all sources. In case this offer should not j meet with the approval of the Aua- .' tralasian Association, the Canterbury ' Association obtained from the board of ' control of Lancaster Park the following ' alternative offer: To provide and prepare ground for play as in offer al- ' ready set out; that the cost of stand accommodation for say 4000 people, ex- ' penses of advertising and gatekeepers' wages to be the first charge on the gate ■■ takings, the hoard .of control to take - 20 per cent, of the net takings, leaving -' SO per cent, for .Hie-Association. .)
