FEDERAL LAND TAX.
RECORD TAX-GATHERING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 24, 12.13 a.m. Melbourne, June 23. Up to June 21 payments of the Federal Land Tax totalled £1,337,184. Several sums are still to come in. On Tuesday and Wednesday the Treasury received £'l SOO,OOO, which constitutes a record in taxation gathering. Mr. K. O'Malley, Minister for Home Affairs, states that in future the correspondence issuing from his department will not hear formalities such as ' i have the honor to be," which is mere crawling flunkeyism.
