IMMIGRATION TO AUSTRALIA. By cable.—Press Association,—Copyright London, June 21. The Hon. J. Murfay haa thoroughly reorganised the Emigration Department, and is investigating railways electrification, particularly at Leeds and Newcastle. After the Coronation he will visit Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham to enquire into trade and shipping. He has been the moving apirit at the Conference of State Premiers, with a view to Commonwealth agencies combining their offices in London. After visiting Scotland anu Ireland he will go to Berlin and Essen. WEST AUSTRALIAN DINNER. London, June 21. The Westralian annual dinner was largely attended. Sir John Forreet, in the course of his speech, prophesied that West Australia in a few years would be the greatest wheat producer in the Commonwealth. CONFERENCE OF NAVAL AFFAIRS. London. June 21. Mr. Fisher and Mr, Pearct am ferring with the Admiralty to fix a working basis for the co-operation of the Commonwealth Navy with the Imperial Navy, also the appointment of the waters of the Australian station. SEAMEN FIRE ON A CROWD.' London, June 21. As the steamer Ladybrook was leaving Hull, the crew, after a heated argument with the strikers and pickets, fired six shots into the crowd, injuring a picket, it is feared fatally. Efforts are being made to stop the Ladybrook before she leaves the Humber. MURDER OF AN INDIAN OFFICIAL, Calcutta, June 21. A youthful Brahmin accompanying Mr. Ashe's murdered haa been arrested. The crime was the outcome, of a care-fully-planned conspiracy.
