DISTRICT NEWS.
KORITO. (From Our Own Correspondents.) Last Tuesday night, the Rer. Liddle, of New Plymouth, gave a lecture in the Primitive Methodist Church on Tasmania, showing some splendid views of the principal cities with hi* magic lantern. The views included some of the convict settlement. Mr. Liddell preached in the church on Sunday, evening. Mrs. C. Ansford is at present lying in the New Plymouth Hospital, having undergone a serious operation a little over a week ago. The operation proved successful, and the patient is on a fair way to recovery.
Dairy cows seem in good demand. I hear of one farmer in the district having sold his whole dairy hcni of thirty odd cows at £9 5s per hea<l, which is an exceptionally high price. Mr. Willie C'hatterton is attending the Palmerston winter show as the delegate of the directors of the Mnngor'ei Dairy Co. The milk supply at the kical creamery is low at present, but the directors have decided to run on alternate days through the winter unless the supply becomes too small. OPUXAKE. We had two weddings here last Wednesday, when .Mr. A. K. Crawley, of Opunake, was married to Miss Jessie Affleck, the second daughter of Mr. Robert Affleck. Mr. A, Lawn was married to Miss Lonsdale. The s.s. Rimu arrived in the bav shortly after daylight 011 .Saturday, discharging 40 tons of inward cargo and shipping one ton of tallow outwards. She cleared for Onehunga at 3 p.m. the same day.
