ENTERTAINMENTS

OSSIPOI'F. Word was received in New Plymouth yesterday that Ossipoff, the great Russian singer, will be in New Zealand next week and give two concerts here. These will be the only' concerts he will give in New Zealand, as he leaves for Europe the following week.

THE ROYAL HAWAIIAN'S. lhe 1 heatre Royal will lie occupied on Wednesday night by the Royal Hawail.ins, an organisation of singers, instrumentalists and lady exponents of Hula dances. Included in the party are the Hawaiian (llee Sinners, who,'with the others, form an artistic combination. It i.-. easy to understand the fascination that the Royal Ht>.\vaiians exert upon an audience when an analysis is made of their music and the varied nature of the entertainments that they present. Not only are all the European and Continental song successes included in their repertoire, but tliev sing in their native tongue many of the .sweetest Hawaiian melodies, and perform in a most expert manner on many dulcet toned native instiuments. Added to these accomplishments are demonstrations of their national dances, notably "The Hula." which is said to ho one of the best spectacular dances extant. Tf the judgment of our American and, Australian critics is to be relied upon the Royal lhuvaiians will create a sensation, by reason of the very novelty of their entertainment, in which native customs, songs and native instruments play an important part The box plan is at Collier's.
