THE NORTHERN ONION GAME. THE WORD "PROFESSIONALISM." By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, June 20. Speaking at the Rugby League's welcome to the New Zealand footballers, Mr. Phelan said they should sit on the word professionalism whenever they heard it. Members of the New Zealand team were purely amateurs. There had been, no payments to secure recruits, and the latest to come o.er had not been paid to desert the union.
NEW ZEALAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, June 20. Following is the New Zealand team for Thursday's match against New South Wales:—Full-back, Aslier; threequarters, Woodward, Buckland, a»d, Siddels; five-eighths, Gillett and Morse; half-back, Smith; forwards, Francis,. Rukutai, Mason, Savoury, Dunning, and Stannavvay.
THE RUGBY GAME. THE MAORI TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The following New Zealand Maori football team will play a series of eight matches in the North Island during July and August:—Backs: Russell and Parohiwi (Ilawke's Bay), Kaipara and Rvland (Poverty Bay), Nuku, Rogers, and Bluett (Bay of Plenty), Grace (Wellington), Piki (Canterbury), Papakura (Southland). Forwards: Cunningham, Hall, and Sellars (Auckland), Takarangi. and J. Pini (Wanganui), Tamu and J. Martin (Taranaki), Hiahia (Horowhenua), „ Makahurt (Ilawke's Bay), Paaka Turei (Poverty Bay), McDonald (Marlborough). The first match, will be played at Napier on July 22nd.
THE UNIVERSITY TEAM. Wellington, Tuesday. The University team for Sydney is now constituted as follows:—Norrie, Dansie, Thomson, Tait, Potter, Ongley, Molloy (Otago); Mansell, Blank, Grace, Parr (Canterbury); Faire, Ryan, Quilliam, Brosnan, Curtayne, Robertson (Wellington); Schofield (Auckland).
