THE OPENING DAY. £ Telegraph.—Press Association* Palmerston North, Last Nigbx. The National Dairy Show openefl today in fine weather. The Governor' performed the opening ceremony, and delivered an address on the agricultural industry and the value of scientific farming. Cushing, of West Olive, Hawke's Bay. W. J. Bailsillee, of Kairanga, won the special olnss jor collection of farm roots in competition for vSutton and Sons' shield. F. Westbury, Taita, Wellington, won the Roval Horticultural Society's medal for collection of vegetables, and also gained many firsts in the vegetable class, and the'medal for the best collection of Dotatoes was won by R Chri.stonsen, of Christchurch.
