SCUFFLE AT THEATRE DOOR.
MR. FRED, DUVAL INJURED. Auckland, June 19. A disturbance took place at one of thfl' Durham street entrances to His Majesty's Theatre on Friday night. It appeals that a member of the audience returned rather unsober after an interval' in an entertainment given by "The Wandrtrere," and he was refused admittance. He used some bad lnnguage, and, on Mr. Fred. Duval, theatrical manager, making an appearance and advising the man to go home, he swung round with the result that Mr. Duval waa'throjm against a door, and received a severe tut on the head. The sequel came on Saturday morning, when a young man named Alfred Watson, for whom Mr. J. R. Lundon appeared, was charged with using certain language, and with assault-' ing Mr. Duval by striking him on the face. His Worship convicted accused-on both charges. It was not a question, he said, whether Mr. Duval wished to press the assault case, but one where it would have to be understood that when a person was quite properly put out and he turned on the ofßcinl he committed an assault. Accused was fined £5, or 14 days' imprisonment for assault, and £2, or seven days' imprisonment, for using the words complained of.
