Of all kinds of amiLsements presented t<> the public the biograph, combined with good music, is proving the most - popular. Almost every town in Austialiii and NVw Zealand lias its permaj nent picture theatre. We in Xew Plv- / mouth are .shortly to he catered for in I the most up-to-date manner by Messrs. Ud„ who are letiiing from that linn and commence 011 on duly (under their own direction; at the Theatre Royal, an enterprise to be known as the '"Royal Pictures and Orchestra.'- This will be a permanent institution in the town, but of course will stand out for a night occasionally so that theatre-goers may also have the best of travelling companies visiting the town. Jhe plant that the management intend installing in the theatre will be thoroughly up-to-date, and containing all tho latest improvements for cinematographic subjects. The class of pictures to lie shown has also been studied carefully, and Messrs Crust and (Ijedsted assure the local public, that they have nothing to fear on that score, for all their piogrammes are being provided by the largest firm of film hirers in the colonies and are subject to the most ri"id censorship, so that .nothing will be given that is not absolutely of the newest and nest, the opening of tiie new venture will be watched with much eagerness bv local amusement-lovers.
