EARTH DISTURBANCES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, June 15. A series of earth disturbances in the Haston district caused fissures eight feet deep. Huge trees were torn up, and big mounds created. It is unknown whether it was a landslide or a seismic disturbance.
BARQUE IN A STORM. Sydney, June 15. The barque Helen Denny met the full force of the recent storm. The crew had some severe experiences, but .the vessel was undamaged. REGISTERED LETTERS. WESTRAIIAX WHEAT YIELD. Perth, June 15. The wueat yield for the past season was 5,885,877 bushels, from 580,578 acres. THE GOLD RESERVE. Melbourne, June 15. Replying to criticism of the proposal to reduce the gold reserve, Mr. Fraser, Acting-Treasurer, declared that the note issue of the Commonwealth was the safest in the world.
THE PRICE OF LEATHER. Melbourne, June 15. Master tanners have resolved to increase the price of leather 10 per cent, from July 1 owing to the advance in the cost of raw material and wages in different branches of th,e industry. GASWORKS SITE RESUMED. Sydney, June 15. The new road round the harbor front outlined 'by Mr. Cannichacl involves the resumption of the gasworks site.
