Resolutions in favor of the strike were enthusiastically carried. Th<> strike was similarly proclaimed in Bristol, Hull, Sunderland, Manchester, Cardiff and Shields, the strikers demanding the establishment of a conciliation board, and a minimum wage as follows: £5 10s per month on cargo boats, and £0 on mail boats; also overtime at the rate of ninepence an hour until midnight, and a shilling an hour until six in the morning.
