BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
KECrUK LKAfIUE'S PROTEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association Tima.ru, Last Night. A deputation from (lie local branch of the Secular Education League waited on the Board of Education to protest against certain proceedings of the Ministers' Association and the authorities of the Main School in connection with Bible lessons introduced into the town schools lust month. Complaints are made that the school staff is not neutral. The usual hour of assembly is !) a.m., and the Board agreed it should lie 0.30 on Bible lesson days. The deputation showed that the headmaster assembled the scholars in the ordinary way at !) a.m., and, acting as head-master, had assisted the ministers. The deputation asked for public notification that the school "assembles" at 11.30 on lesson days; that no letter of exemption be required; that teachers be instructed to take no part in assembling the children for lessons, and generally to remain neutral. The Board referred the complaints to the committee and the headmaster for reply.
