TARAHUA CLUB. The following ladder "matches were played during the week:—Perham beat Broome, 4 up and 3; Broome beat Gray, 1 up j Dpuglas beat Cooke, 4 up and Members able to play m the match on Coronation Day are requested to hand in their names to one of the match committee. MoCormii'k will return to New Plymouth on Monday next, 10th inst., for one day only, and will be coaching on the Tarnhua dinks. Anyone requiring lessons is requested to* communicate with the secretary. A golf match of a most unusual character was played on the Geraldine links recently between two members of the local club. One man undertook to beat the other in «. nine-hole match, by throwing the golf lull round the course, while his opponent, used his clubs. The thrower was only permitted a preliminary run when delivering the ball from the tee, tnrough the green the balance had to be delivered from where it landed. On the putting green he was allowed to roll the ball towards the hole. After a most interesting contest the game finished all square 42, made up as follows: -i.irowev, ;>, 4, 4; 5, 4, 0, 3, 6, 5—42. Golfer, 5, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 7, (1, 4—42. The bogey score for the round was 39.
