LICENSING COMMITTEE.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Licensing Committee was held yesterday. All the members were present but Mr. H. S. Fitzherbert, S.M., the chairman, and Mr. 11. Okey was elected to the chair. Transfers were granted: Ellen Little to Bertram T. Booker, Okato Hotel (Mr. Johnstone for the applicant); Frank Poland to S. J. Whiteiord, Breakwater Hotel (Mr. T. S. Weston); R. H. Campbell to W. J. Williams, Grosvenor Hotel, New Plymouth (Mr. Grey); Frederick Calgher to U. 11. Campbell, Terminus Hotel, New Plymouth (Mr. Grey). New applications for old licenses were granted in the cases of the Okato, Grosvenor, Terminus, White Ilart, and Breakwater hotels. Renewals were granted: James A. Tuthill (Mr. Quilliam), Taranaki Hotel, New Plymouth; James Kothery (Mr. Grey), Oaluira Hotel, accommodation license at same fee as last year, subject to repairs to verandah being effected; John McKean (Mr. Weston), Criterion Hotel, New Plymouth; Edwin Whittle (Mr. Quilliam), Red House Hotel, New Plymouth; W. Little (Mr. Johnstone), Imperial Hotel, New Plymouth. Wholesale licenses were granted to Goldwater Bros. (Mr. Quilliam), L. D. Nathan and Co. (Mr. Weston), Hawkins and Smith (Mr. Grey). A packet license was granted to the Northern S.S. Co., Ltd. (Mr. Quilliam), in respect to the steamer Rarawa. Permission was granted to all licensees in the borough of New Plymouth to extinguish lights at 10 p.m., and also to the Breakwater Hotel.
