ACCIDENT TO IIALLAST TRAIN. I By Telegraph. —Press Association. 1 Auckland, Friday. I This morning a ballast train crashed I into eight stationary trucks at Mount | Albert station, owing, it is understood, to the brakes failing to act on the slippery rails. Two trucks were reduced to matchwood, and others more or less smashed up. The engine jumped the rails, and the fore part sustained some damage. The men on the engine escaped unhurt. CHRISTCIIURCJT WHOLESALE CLUB. Christchurch, Friday. A petition has been liled in bankruptcy praying for the liquidation of the Wholesale Club, Ltd., and for a public investigation into the circumstances of the dotation of that concern.
