RECIPROCITY.

ITS FATE IN THE BALANCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Washington, June 8. The chairman of the Finance Committee of the Senate told the committee that all amendments to the Reciprocity Bill were certain to be killed on the floor of the Senate.

Mr. Knox, replying to interrogations by members of the committee, declined to state whether the adoption of Senator Root's amendment would kill the Reciprocity Bill.

PROGRESS IN THE SENATE. Received 10, 1 a.m. Washington, June 9. All the amendments, except Senator Root's printing paper provision, were rejected l by the Senate Finance Committee by narrow majorities. The Democratic Party's Free .List Bill as an amendment was rejected without division.

Senator Root's amendment was adopted by eight to six. The Bill will be reported to the Senate probably on Tuesday.
