Terrible Earthquake
IN MEXICO CITY. TWO HUNDRED BODIES RECOVERED. MADERO'S TRAGIC ENTRY. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, June 7. The seismograph record at West Bromwich recorded a huge earthquake at 11.15 to-day, distant over 6000 miles. Mexico City, June 7. Following on the earthquake, 200 bodies have already been taken from the ruins. The damage is heavy in the city and the wires are down. The city was crowded with people syho had gathered to witness the celebration iof Madero's entry. There were several seismic shocks. Madero was visibly affected when proclaimed the New Liberator amid the flames resulting from the earthquake. His arrival stopped the panic that followed the first shocks. Special police precautions were taken in connection with Madero's entry, and suspected Diazites were arrested. Madero's special train was guarded by numbers of officers of the insurrectos. SYDNEY RECORDS. Received 9, 11.55 a.m. Sydney, June 8. The Observatory recorded a big earth tremor last night, laeting three hours, the centre being thousands of miles away, the tremor being the biggest since January. Probably it was that cabled from Mexico.
