DISTRICT NEWS.

URENUI. (From Onr Own Correspondent). A most enjoyable euchre party was given by Mr. L. Rowe last week, it being the anniversary of the opening of tho boarding-house. Prizes were given, and some excellent singing took place, all seeming to thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Mrs. McDonald was taken into the New Plymouth Hospital on Sunday, as was the young man Williamson, who was accidentally shot. Mrs. P. Godmagh, Urenui, was also taken into the hospital. Yfrily, a chapter of sickness and accidents.

We hope to have a bumper house next Thursday evening, when the euchre party and dance take place. We had a small practice dance last Saturday evening, keeping going till 12 o'clock. These practice dances will take place every Saturday, and the regular euchre parties every other Thursday. WAIONGONA. (Proß Our Own Correspondent.) On Thursday evening the library concert was held in the schoolroom. The building was crowded, with a result that the function was a marked success financially. The programme was a long and varied one, a special feature being Highland reels and flings by the Misses Todd and G. Maston, accompanied by bagpipes. Mr Thornley was enthusiastically encored for his comic songs, and Miss Simpson's songs met with similar treatment. Mr. B. Luke gave a number of recitations in his usual good style. The thanks of the committee are due to all those from near and far who contributed to make the evening's entertainment such a success. After the programme, supper was handed round, and the room was then cleared for dancing, which was kept up until 2 a.m. next morning. Mr. J. W. Henwood acted as chairman of the concert. The music for dancing was supplied by Miss M. and Mr. L. Henwood.
