TARANAKI TOURNAMENT AND SPORTS. Arrangements for the Taranaki Hockey Association's tournament and sports gathering to be held on the Recreation Sports Ground on Coronation Day (June 22) are now under way. The programme which has been issued by the executive committee provides for a ladies' seven-a-sidc tournament and a men's five-a-side tournament. The running events will include a ladies' 75 yards championship, for which Mr. A. S. Hasell has donated a hockey stick, a men's 100 yards championship, and a 508 yards teams relay race (ive-a-side), in which each player will run lOt yards, then hand the hockey stick to the next man of his team, and so on until the 500 yards are completed. Valuable trophies will be awarded in all events, for which entries close on Thursday. June 15, with Mr. J. C. Avery, honsecrctary of the Taranaki Hockey Association.

On Monday a couple of interesting championship hockey matches will be played at the Recreation Sports Ground. At two o'clock two ladies' teams, Whakatika and Waitara, will try conclusions. This game will be followed by a match between New Plymouth and Inglewood. An interesting display of hockey is promised.
