DUNEDIN WINTER MEETING. ! By Telegraph.—Fre*e dasociatiou. Dunedin, Last Night. The Dunedin J.C. winter meeting opened to-day before a fair attendance. A shower of rain fell prior to the first race. The tote investments wefe £9,333, as against £10,082 for the opening day of last year. Results:— Pacific Hurdles Handicap, 115 aovs, a mile and three-quarters.—White Cockade 1, Belmond 2, Wairakei 3. Also started: Stayboy, Pinul, Royal Shell, Umeraboy, and Embrasure. Won easily, Wairakei A fair third. Time, 3min ,28 l-ssec. Brighton Handicap, 100 sovs, seven furlongs.—Mumura 1, Gold Coin 2, John Bunyan 3. Also started: Grafton Loch, Larkspur, Nightlight, Optimeform, and Simon Pure.
