Ayliner Cameron, 57th Battery Royal Field Artillery, stationed at Edinburgh, alleged that while looking into a shop 011 February 27 she was assaulted and robbed of a pearl necklace valued at .C7OOO. A claim was made for the insurance on the necklace, but the company refused payment, and Lieut, and Mrs. Cameron are charged with haying attempted to obtain money under false pretences. diving evidence for the prosecution, two servant girte swore that no one was near Mrs. Cameron at the time she said she had been robbed cf the necklace. A detective gave evidence that a theft fwntu beneath a sealskin coat was impossible. Letters found in Lieut. Cameron's flat were read. Thajir were signed "Billy Walker." The Solicitor-General remarked that these formed the foundation of the accusation of false representations to the insurance companies. In the letter ■'insurance" was commenced ''en'' instead of "in," which was the same as Mrs. Cameron's spelling. The case has been adjourned. EXTRAORDINARY STATEMENTS. Received 31, 10.20 p.m. London, May 21. The Crown suggests that an insurance was effected' upon an imitation pearl necklace obtained on approval from a Regent-street jeweller. Amelia Blas-em, a French maid, gave evidence that she posted letters from Cannes at the request of Ernestine Tenes, Mrs. Cameron's maid. The Crown suggests that these were bogus, emanating from a mythical '"Billy Walker," who is untraceable. Walker's letters told a romantic story to the effect that the pearls were the price of Mrs. Walker's shame and that Walker gave tfiem to Mrs. Cameron at his daughter's request.
