HUIAS SEEN

ON MOUNT HOLDSWORTH. Wellington, Last Night. While coming from Mount Holdsworth (one of the highest points of the Tararuas) about three months ago, Mr. W. Wakeman (Pahiatua) saw a couple of huias. He mentioned this fact last night to the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, the news being cheerfully received. As there have been several unsuccessful expeditions sent out during the last twelve months in search of , traces of this rapidly diminishing native bird, Mr. Wakcman's discovery will be of value to those interested in its preservation.
