INGLEWOOD NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Presbyterian "cake and candy fair" opened on Wednesday in glorious weather. Although a "cake and candy fare" in name, in reality it was a most extensive bazaar, and the various stalls fairly groaned (with all due respect to the amateur carpenters who were responsible for their erection) under the display of the numerous articles, ornamental and useful, and arranged to great advantage by the respective stall-holders. Several miniature vendors of "button holes" and flower bouquets plied their wares unceasingly. Appended is a list of the stall-holders:—Art stall, Mrs. Gibbs, Misses Parli and Johnston; "cake and candy stall," Mesdamos J. Sutherland and Mcßeth; Christmas tree, Mrs. Richardson and Miss Allen; doll stall, Mesdames J. Allen and Ballantyne; plain sewing, Mesdames Lindsay, Parli, and Hopson; guessing the weight of the cake, Miss Metson. Miss Mcßeth had charge of the fortune teller's sanctuary, and was kept busy all the evening. During the evening various novelty competitions were got off and caused much amusement and hilarity, a darning competition for gentlemen being perhaps the best appreciated. The financial result is not yet available, but there is no doubt that it will be entirely satisfactory.
