A meeting of representatives of 40 trades unions resolved that unless a favorable reply was received from the Premier in regard to the proposed conference, the only practicable solution of the gas employees' trouble, they would cause a j general strike. Both companies considered the suggested conference and their replies to the Premier have not been disclosecj.
