HUNTING

NORTH TARANAKI CLUB. The North Taranaki Hunt held a meet at Okato on Thursday. There was a very fair muster. Soon after the throwoff a hare was driven from cover, but the hounds lost the scent. Then two hares lying close in a brake of furzo were killed by the hounds before they could make a run. Subsequently another hare was located, and this on'e gave the hounds a good chase over three or four miles, but unfortunately rain iset in, and only a few of the members followed. In the evening the members were entertained by Mr. B. T. Booker at the Okato Hotel. Subsequently the ladies of the district entertained the hunt at a dance. Several new members were obtained during the day, and at the first opporunity the hunt will avail itself oF the invitation of the settlers to agnin visit Okato. The next meet will take place at Mr. C. Topliss' property at Waihi.
