The death of .Mr. William Benoni Parker, J.P., aged 7:t, is reported from Blenheim. He arrived in New Zealand in 1801, and had resided iu Marlborough since 1804. He leaves a widow aittl live sons.
Mr. Wiilißm .Joseph Park, or.o of the Crimean and Indian Mutiny veterans, died on Wednesday at Wanganui, where he had resided for many years. Deceased was for twenty- years in the (Ith Dragoon Guards, and was through the Crimean war and Indian Muntiny, having been at Meerut when the Indian revolt took place.
Mr. F. Waldegrave, Commissioner of Police, and Under-Secret,iry for Justice, will accompany the Chief .Justice (Sir Robert .Stout) and Mr. H. 11. Ostler' (Crown Law Officer) to Itarotonga, where the Chief Justice is to hear a charge of murder against a resident, W. J. Wigmore, and, generally, to make inquiries into the administration of the islands. Mr. Waldegrave, though attending in his official capacity, will have no part in the proceedings. The party will sail from Auckland on June 3.
Mr. A. H. Davidson, well-known in Eltham, as being on the staff fii "this Bank of Australasia, died on Thursday. A few weeks ago he was attacked by typhoid fever and removed to the Ilawera hospital. Pneumonia also set in, and on Thursday afternoon he breathed his last. He was deservedly held in high respect by all who knew him, and from a close acquaintanceship with him, the' Argqs speaks of him as a clean-minded, honorable young man, well worthy ot the general respect in which le was held. He leaves a wife and two children, one of them born since his removal to the hospital.
