At yesterday's meeting of the society for the Health of Women and Children, one of the members queried the advantage of holding the meeting during the afternoon instead of the evening. The president replied that the afternoon should be more suitable for any mothers who were desirous to attend, The inquiring member at once replied that the evening should suit the mothers best, as the husbands would then be available to remain home and look after the children.
Here is glad news for the harassed husband who lias to wrestle with feminine hooks and eyes, and listen to im- : patient advice all the time, and vehement i remonstrance when his well-meaning but' awkward fingers have fastened the bodice "P wrongly, and he finds an extra hook at the foot: The first-class dressmakers in Paris and London are contriving gowns that the wearer can get into at express speed, and by manipulating a' couple of hooks and eyes at the back, two more at the side, and adjusting a satin fold, the frock is ready for the minutest criticism—even that of your most envious female friends. These great artists know the value of simplicity and comfort—one pays, of course, tremendously for these qualities in a frock—and it is only the second rate dressmaker who would send out a garment that needs much time and patience, to say nothing of a maid, to fasten up. To-night the Biograph Picture Co. announce another complete change of programme. The dramatic pictures are exceptionally good. They are entitled "His Trust" and "His Trust Fulfilled." Each one comprises about 1000 ft. of film, and although the latter is a sequel to the former, either comprises a complete story in itself. Tlie3e pictures portray the faithful devotion and self-sacrifice of an old negro servant to his master's interests. The story opens at the time of the Confederate war in America, when Colonel Frazier, before joining his regiment, tells George, the faithful bodyservant, to take good care of his wife and child. The colonel is killed by the Unionists and his house plundered and burned by them. George rescues the ehild from the flames and carefully tends to the wants of the mother and child. "His Trust Fulfilled" opens some four years later, when the war is over and the negroes are freed. George, however, continues faithful to liis trust, and after the death of the mother, arranges for the support of the child out of his own savings, and, later on, even denies himself of the barest necessities so that tlie girl can have the advantage of a good education. His savings, however, soon vanish, and he is even momentarily tempted to steal so that the girl shail not go short. In the end he set's the result of his devotion fulfilled, the girl is happily married, and he returns to his cabin, where he fondles his master's sword, which he saved from the fire, happy in the realisation of a trust fulfilled. The scenic views are also well up to their high standard of merit, whilst the comic element i 6 also catered for. The Rev. F. P. Kellow will conduct the morning service in the Whiteley Memorial Church to-morrow, and in the evening the "Rev. J. W. Burton will take as the subject of the sermon, "The quest of (he Soul." YOU SHOULD BEAR IN MIND That tiy using the Commercial Eucalyptus Oil, which is now bought up at 6d per lb weight and bottle, and, on account of the large profits, pushed, you are exposing yourself to all the dangers to which the use of turpentine will expose you—irritation of kidneys, intestinal tract and mucous membranes. By insisting on the GENUINE SANDER EUCALY?TI EXTRACT you not only avoid these pitfalls, but you have a stimulating, safe and effective medicament, the result of a special and careful manufacture Remember: SANDER'S EXTRACT embodies the result of 60 years' experience and of special study, and it does what is promised; it cures and heals without injuring the constitution, as the oils on the market frequently do.
