There were insuperable difficulties in the way of arranging such a service as Mr. Holman desired to see. Upon a*£atisfaetory settlement of Aus-tralian-Canadian reciprocity a shipping scheme would follow naturally. The only obstacle to the Commonwealth subsidising a service touching at New Zealand would then be removed.
