NEW ZEALAND RUGUY UNION. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Uuioji met this evening. The South Auckland Union notified that it had challenged the Auckland Union for the Ranfurly Shield. It was decided to ask the union if it had suggested a date to the Auckland Union, or, if not, what date it proposed. The New Zealand University football committee wrote stating that Sydney University Football Club had invited it to send to Sydney a team representing the New Zealand universities during the present season. It was proposed to play two matches against Sydney University and one match against an outside team. Following was the proposed itinerary:—Leave Wellington .Tune 23rd, arrive Sydney June 27th, play Sydney University July Ist and sth, play team to be fixed by New South Wales Rugby Union on July Bth, leave Sydney July Bth, arrive Wellington July 12th. The teant would consist of eighteen players and a manager. The committee asked the Union'# permission for the tour.—The application was granted, subject to the team agreeing to publish a statement of receipts and expenditure after the tour. Sydney Paul, of Blenheim, who was disqualified four seasons ago for playing, football under Northern Union rules, applied to have his case reconsidered—lt was decided to inform applicant that the Union had no power to grant the reinstatement. The committee of the English Union forwarded the following resolution: "That such members of the committee who reside in the metropolitan area or have a place of business in that area form the laws sub-committee together with one accredited representative of the combined unions of New Zealand, Queensland, and New South Wales, and one of the South African board. All questions of interpretation of laws shall be referred to this committee, who shall report their rulings to the full committee, and no ruling to take effpet or be published until approved of by the full committee. Representatives of combined unions of New Zealnnd, Queensland, New South Wales and of the South African board shall he invited to intend a meeting of the full committee when the rulings of the sub-committee are to be considered and mav vote thereon."— It was decided to get into communication with Queensland and New South Wales with a view to a representative toeing appointed and suggesting that Mr. Wray Palliser fill the office. The appointment of a selector for the South Island was held over.
