FIRES.
OUTBREAK IN REEFTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Reefton, Tuesday. The first fire for four years occurred this morning, when Wills and Co.'s large drapery and grocery store, on the Buller road, was burned to the ground. Owing to economy with regard to water, due to the dry weather, the water was slow in coming. There is a heavy loss, as the firm was carrying £7OOO worth of goods, and was insured for £IBOO only, £3OO each in the Standard, South British, New Zealand, Victoria, Norwich Union, and Phoenix Offices.
A HOUSE DESTROYED. Gisborne, Tuesday. An eight-roomed house at Waerengaokuri, owned and occupied by Carlyson, a sheep-farmer, has been destroyed by fire. The insurance on the house was £4OO in the Victoria Office; the furniture was uninsured. WESTPORT SHOP GUTTED. Westport, Tuesday. Collins' music and fancy goods depot was gutted by fire early this morning. The stock was insured lor £4OO.
