THE DEFENCE FORCES.
A 'POINT CLEARED UP. . By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In regard to .the non-registration of persons liable for compulsory training under the Defence Act, there is believed to be an impression in some minds that if persons fail to register and pay the subsequent fine they exempt themselves. This, however, is not so; they will still require to register. ATTITUDE OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Dunedin, Last Night. At a special meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery to-day, there was a lengthy discussion on the question of military training of cadets and the Presbytery's relation thereto, and on the subject of nominating military chaplains. Some of the speakers were in favor of the churches assisting in the movement, but others showed an uncompromising hostility. and eventually a motion was carvied. by 18 to (1, protesting against the formation of denominational companies of cadets, and expressing the opinion that churches as such should take no part in the formation of cadet companies. An amendment in favor of commending the request of the Government to the session was rejected.
