■ —•« EAST COAST WEATHER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gishorne, Saturday. The south-easterly gale continues, with occasional heavy showers. There is a high sea oil' the coast, and the Union Company's steamer Squall is sheltering in Tologa Bay. The captain reports that the funnel is damaged and is likely to collapse before reaching C.isborne. The accident was caused by the excessive heat generated in steaming against the wind mid the force of the gale. THE CASTTEL-'STREET CASE. Christchurch, Saturday. Mr. Justice Denniston this morning heard an application for the release of Jack and 'Sadler on bail, pending Sadler's appeal against the verdict of manslaughter. Bail was allowed in each case, accused in £2OO each and one surety of £2OO.
