THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
STATEMENT BY GENERAL BOTHA. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 22, 1 a.m. London, May 21. General Botha, Premier of South Africa, has arrived. He visits Germany after the Corpnation for medical treatment. He is certain that the Conference will strengthen the bonds of Empire, which all have at heart. South Africa was prepared to take her full share of the responsibilities, whatever they were. Commercial prospects were most encouraging. Wool exports were increasing. Mr. Malan, Minister for Education, is accompanying General Botha. He studies the university organisation with a view to the establishment of a South African university.
GERMAN PEOPLE INTERESTED. Received 22, 1.10 a.m. Berlin, May 21. Numerous articles are appearing in German newspapers on the British Imperial Conference. The Vossische Zeitung refers to the enormous complexity of the questions affecting the re-building of the greatest Empire the world has ever seen, and states that the world awaits the decisions with interest.
