EG MONT WINTER MEETING. SECOND DAY. Wintry weather conditions prevailed for the concluding day's races at the Egmont winter meetmg at Hawera yesterday. Scratched: Merry Lawn, Lethean and Whitestone. Kuroco was first out, and led over the initial obstacle, attended by Lochguard, Patrobus and Zante, and led past the stand and along the back. Four furlongs from home Patrobus was on even terms with Euroco, and this pair, with Mailet; turned into the straight together. At the home turn Stourton, with Sam Pan, was still in front, and going on won comfortably by six lengths from Sam Pan, who was four lengths clear of Monsieur Soult. Bonnie Lass was caught in the tapes at the start and finished last Time, lmin 30 l-ssec.

Along the back Silva went back, and Shining Star ran into fourth position, the order of the leaders being the same as heads were turned for home. In the run lo the box, Mulga Bill maintained his advantage, and won nicely by a length from Shining Star, who, under strong pressure, beat Afterthought for second place by three-quarters of a length. Turning into the straight Minora, was in front, with 1 Avaunce and Stoiirton, but in the run| home Sam Pan wore the leaders down,i and won comfortably by half a length, Minora having a length the better of I Silver CJuse.
