A BOGEY
SINGLE TAX AND LAND. By Teh graph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. Geo. Fowlds, Minister for Education, addressed a meeting at Pukekoha-i to-night. He replied to the various statements made by Messrs. Massey and Allen in the Opposition campaign. Mr. Massey had had a good deal to eay about single tax. Mr. Massey did not' seem properly to understand that tax.' No single taxer proposed to tax land at all. That was simply a fcogeft H\i frighten the farmers. One single tax minister did not make a single tax government. The Oppositionists were never more tired of declaiming against the Government for excessive valuation of the land. Returns of sales showed that prices realised averaged 34 per cent, higher than the Government valuation. A vote of thanks to Mr. Fowlds and confidence in the Government was carried.
