HOCKEY
TARANAKI ASSOCLVTION. A meeting of the delegates was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night. Present: Messrs. Barnard (Eltham) in the chair, Ralph (Waitara), Priest (Inglewood), Kemp (Hawera), Paton (New Plymouth), and E. Avery (secretary). The applications of Waitara and Otakeho clubs for affiliation with the association were approved.
A letter from the New .Zealand Hockey Referees' Association was received. The secretary was instructed to reply that owing to no association having been formed in this district, this association could not pay the fees de-i manded. | It was decided that the Southern 1 division be as follows: Stratford, Hawera, Kaponga, and Otakeho; and the Northern division: Eltham, Inglewood, Waitara, and New Plymouth.
It was decided to hold a fivc-a-side tournament on Coronation Day at New Plymouth, and that the ladies' hockey association be approached to hold a seven-a-side tournament on the same day at New Plymouth, and races for hockey players and lady members and relay races for teams competing be arranged. Arrangements for the tournament were left in the hands of Messrs. Paton, Avery and Wood, with power to add to their number.
The secretary was instructed to write' to the association, challenging Welling-' ton for the champion shield. FIXTURES. The following fixtures were drawn for the first round of the cup:— SOUTHERN DIVISION. May 25.—Ha wera A. v. Stratford, at; Huwera. May 24.—Otakeho v. Kaponga, at Ka- .,- -ponga-; bje. Otakeho, at Otakeho; Hawera A, a bye. June 14.—Hawera A. v. Hawera 8., at Hawera. June 15.—Stratford v. Kaponga, at Stratford; Otakeho. a bye. June 21.—Hawera A. v. Kaponga, at Kaponga; Hawera B. v.
