STEAMERS COLLIDE. Received 14, 5.5 p.m. London, May 13. The Spanish steamer Debayo sank in a collision ofT Dimgeness. The. captain, mate and three of the crew were drowned. THE EDINBURGH FIRE. Received 14, 5.5 p.m. London, May 13. The man burned in the Edinburgh theatre, supposed to be Lafayette, has proved to be Richards, who. resembling Lafayette, acted as his double in some performances. The remains of the real Lafayette were found in the ruins last evening, the body being identified by his finger rings.
A DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO. Received 14, 5.5 p.m. Brussels, May 13. Advices from the Congo state that a tornado at Lkuandu sank two boats, and thirty soldiers were drowned. PAPUAN EXPLORERS. Received 14, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, May 14. Official advice has been received thai two of the parties despatched in search of Mr. Ktaniforth-Smith and his Papuan expedition have returned. Two native carriers attached to one party died on the journey. POTSONED SCONES. Received 14, 5.5 p.m. London, May 13. Eiflv persons were poisoned, one fatally, at Lamlash, Scotland, by eating scones suspected of containing arsenic.
