CONSIDERATION FOR SMALL UNIONS. "By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual meeting of delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to-day. Rule 26 was altered to provide t!mt members of the Appeal Council shall not be members of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Union, or of the local union against which the appeal is being made. It was resolved that in the event of tht New Zealand Rugby Union, the ■ funds shall be hinded over only, to a■> I amateur club, union, or organisation.

Wray Pallisev, A sub-committee appointed to consider a scheme to give players outside the main centre more opportunities for consideration in the selection of New Zealand and North an 4 South Island teams suggested that in the North Island the ' unions of South Auckland. Poverty, Bay, Hawke's Bay, Bush Districts, Manawatn, Horowhemia and Wairarapa should contribute, say, each three men, making 21 in all, to form a North Tsland country team to p'liv matches at Auckland, Taranaki, Wangalini and Wellington; and that in the South Island the unions of Marlborough, Nelson. Buller, West Coast and South Canterbury should contribute, say, each four men, making 20 in all, to form a South Island country team, to play matches at Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch. These matches would be against the local unions, and after the tours the teams would play against each other in Wellington. The financial risk would be undertaken by the New Zealand Union.

The scheme was adopted, with modifications, one of which is that the Management Committee shall decide where the final match is to be played. The Man.nvatu Union was given permission to alter its boundaries to include Foxtou and exclude Linton, joining the latter to llorowhenua. The date for the inter-island match was left to the management committee to fix. * The Bay of Plenty Union was allowed to affiliate with the' New Zealand Union, tile matter of settling boundaries being left to the management coniuiitee. The following interprovincial fixtures were arranged: At Invercargilh Southland v. Wang® nui, August 23; Southland v. Taranaki August 30 > Southland v. Auckland September 0 (pencilled); Southland v Canterbury, September 20;. Southland v Wcllington, September 27. At Dunedin: Otago v. Wanganui August I!); Otago v. Taranaki, September 2; Otago v. Auckland, September 0 (pencilled); Otago v., Canterbury, September IB; Otago v. Southland, September 23; Otago v. Wellington, September 30. At Christehurch: Canterbury v. Wanganui, August 2(1; Canterbury v. Auok land, September 2; Canterbury v. Tara naki, September 9; Canterbury v. Wei lington, September 23. A match will also be played agains South Canterbury at Timnrii on Sep tember 14. At Wellington: Wellington v. Tara naki, August 20; Wellington v. Auckland, September 10 (pencilled). None of the Auckland dates have been definitely fixed.
