MASONIC INSTALLATION
MOUNT EG MO XT LODGE. There was a gathering of over 120 Freemasons at St. Mary's Hall last night on the occasion of the installation of Bro. W. 11. Broome as Worshipful Master of Mount Egmont Lodge, No. (i7O, E.C. This lodge was established ill 18,1:1. The gathering was a very representative one, nmonir other distinguished visitors being Right Worshipful the Grand Master Bro. A. de Bathe-Brandon (Wellington), Wor. Bros. Beauehampl'latts, District Grand Secretary (Wellington), G. W. Palmer, Past District Senior Grand Warden (Wanganui), Allport, President Board of General Purposes, S. Harcourt, D.G. Sword Bearer, Borlase, W.M. (Tongariro Lodge, Wangamii). The Grand Lodge of Ireland, was represented by Rt. Wor. Bros. J. Ellis, Past Prov. Grand Master, ana Brooking, P.P.G.M., and Very Wor. Bros. Goldwater, P.P.G.S.W., Hanna, P.P.G.S., and Hammond, P.P.G.S.W. Apologies were received for the absence of members of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, owing to tile Grand Lodge of New Zealand holding its annual communication at Christchurch just now. Both tile Ngamotu and De Brugh Adaniß lodges were well represented, and members were present from all the lodgei in Taranaki, as well as from the other provincial districts. JVor, Bro. H. Potter, W.M., occupied the chair, and received the visitors. The beautiful ceremony was ably performed by Wor. Bro. G. W. Palmer, P.D.S.G.W., who installed Bro. W. H. Broome, the W.M.-elect, into the chair of King Solomon according to ancient custom. Wor. Bro. F. T. Bellringer, acted as Master of Ceremonies, whilst the musical portion of the ceremony was in the hands of Wor. Bro. Renaud (pianist) and Bro. Southam (trumpeter). The W.M. invested his officers for the ensuing year as follows:—Past Master, Wor. Bro. H. Potter; Senior Warden, Wor. Bro. C. E. Bellringer; Junior Warden, Bro. W. treasurer, Wor. Bro. E. Chntterton; Secretary, Wor. Bro. Fred C. J. Bellringer; Chaplain, Rev. Bro. J. W. Burton; Dir. of Ceremonies, Wor. Bro. Felix T. Bellringer; Organist,' Bro. W. M. Perry; Senior Deacon, Bro. G. Griffiths; Junior Deacon, Bro. J. Buttimore; Inner Guard, Bro, W. H. M. Wells; Senior Steward, Bro. 0. Carter; Junior Steward, Bro. H. F. Russell; Tyler, Wor. Bro. J. Asher.
At the conclusion of the ceremony an Adjournment was made to the Brougham street hall, where Bro. J. West had prepared an excellent repast, to which the large assemblage paid much attention for a short time. A couple of hours were then spent in pleasant harmony, some excellent speeches being given by the Grand Lodge Officers present, whilst selections bv the De Burgh Adams orchestra, recitations, stories nnd songs by various members added much to the enjoyment. XKW ZEALAND (.'RAND LODGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch. Last Xight, The minimi communication of the New Zealand Grand Lodge was closed to-day. At ii meeting which lasted from ii.m. until noon matters affecting the internal working of lodges were dealt with. This afternoon the visiting brethren were taken for a motor drive around the city and suburbs. A reception was held during the afternoon at the house of Mr. •I. -I. Dongnll, deputv Grand Master, at Kendalton. and in the evening a ball wan held in the Alexandra Hall.
