LONDON WOOL SALES. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, May 9. The wool sales opened at par at 5 per j cent, advance. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. I By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. Following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, May 9:— The third scries of wool sales has commenced. There is general and active demand for all qualities. Trade! is good at Home and on the Continent J Merinos, fine crossbreds, and medium crossbreds showed %d per lb., coarse y 2 d per lb. advance. The estimated values of New Zealand wools at the close of the second series of colonial wool sales held in London on April 1 were: Superior merino, Is to Is 2d; medium, lOd to 10y s d; inferior, 8d to 9i/jd; fine crossbred.of all grades, liy 2 d to Is 2d; medium 9d to lid: coarse, B>/ a d to lOd. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from its London office: "The sales have opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. The market is strong for all kinds of wool; prices are higher par to 5 per cent. Total net quantity New Zealand wool available 100,000 bales."
