ACROSS INDIA BY BICYCLE

ENGLISH TOURISTS LIVE ON 10s A WEEK. Mr, Henry Moore, of Liverpool, and Mr. Hardy Crane, of Nottingham, have arrived at Bombay after a sporting tour across India from Calcutta. They had previously spent a couple of year* in the Australian bush, which prepared them for the journey. They left Calcutta in December, carrying an equipment weighing GOlb, which comprised a bicycle tent, rugs, a small stove and cooking utensils, spare clothing, tinned food and a six-shot Winchester carbine. They purchased flour, rice, eggs and other food in the villages, baked cakes on ash fires, and thus prepared meals at the roadside. They spent about four days at Benares, a week at Allahabad, and n few days at Agra. Occasionally they made use of their gun, shooting a deer on one occasion, and wild duck and other birds, which provided many meals.

The cost of living worked out at 10s a week. They have sailed-for Naples, and, after cycling across the Continent, will cross the Chaune.J'and return to England. ."'•! •
