DISTRICT NEWS.
WAIONGONA. (From Our Own Correspondent. At a meeting of the library committee on Thursday night, it was decided to hold a concert on May 20th in aid of the funds. The tickets are now out, and are selling well. It is hoped that the function will prove a success, as books have been purchased, and a cupboard ordered, all involving considerable outlay. The library will be open for exchange of books every Monday night, commencing on May 15th. The librarian (Mr. W. L. Hughes) is open to receive subscriptions from intending members at any time. The Mountain road through the district has recently been rc-metalled, and although rather rough at present, we will enjoy the benefit when the bad weather sets in, Much sympathy is felt with Mr. Fred. Knoffloek, who lost his house and furniture by fire on Friday night. The creamery is now open only every other day, as the supply of butter-fat has fallen pretty low. The establishment of a creamery is fully justifying the anticipations of those who were influential in securing its erection, and it is felt that a public hall in the district would meet with similar success.
