REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. NORTHERN COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Taranaki. Referees' Association's Northern Committee was held last night, when there were present: Messrs Griffiths (chairman), Roch, Johnson, Petty, West and Smart. Messrs J. H. Thompson (Stratford) and L. de Launay (Inglewood) presented themselves for examination, and were admitted to active membership. The following appointments were made for to-morrow: Seniors. —Tukapa v. Eltham, at New I Plymouth, 2 p.m., Mr. Roch; Clifton v. Stratford, at Waitara, 2 p.m., Mr. .Spurdle. First Juniors.—Tukapa v. Eltham, at Eltham, 3 p.m., Mr. de Launay; Star v. Inglewood, at Inglewood, 3 p.m., Mr. J, Johnson: Clifton v. Stratford, at Stratford, 3 p.m., Mr. Petty. Second Juniors.—Tukapa v. Eltham, at New Plymouth, at 1.30 p.m., Mr. Smart; Clifton'v. Stratford, at Waitara, 12.30 p.m., Mr. D. George; Star v. Inglewood, at New Plymouth, 3 p.m., Mr. T. Petty. Saturday matches. —United v. Tariki, 'at. Tariki, 3 p.m., Mr. Roch; Rovers v. Star, at New Plymouth, 3 p.m., Mr. West.
When these appointments were arranged the members of the Association had not been informed that Tariki would not be entering a team for the Saturday competition. It will now be necessary to re -arrange them, as the fixtures have been altered. SOUTHERN COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Southern Committee of the Association was held at Okaiawa on Friday evening. It was resolved that the Southern Committee should consist of all southern referees. Officer's were elected as follows:—Chairman, Mr. Lees; secretary, Mr. O 1 Dea; executive committee, Messrs Lees, Hunter and O'Dea; examining committee, Messrs Scott, Hunter, O'Shea, A'Court and Lees. The names of Messrs Matheson and Canton were added to the list of active referees. It was resolved that in all home and home matches the home team should pay the referees' expenses; in matches where the teams meet half-way, the expenses to be divided between the two I teams. Hawera was fixed upon as the headquarters of the committee. The Stratford Club has been fortunate in arranging for the use of the new showground for its matches. The Victoria Park ground was never of the best, hut the new ground should be one of the best in the district.
