Mr. Heatley, technical organiser, forwarded a letter from Miss Mac Donald, who is in charge of the cookery classes at the New Plymouth and Stratford technical schools, intimating that the High School was now holding its term holidavs, and would not resume till June 1. She asked if the entries from the High School girls could be held over until that date. The letter also stated that if suitable supervisors were appointed at the Inglewood and Stratford centres, the girls now attending cookery classes there could compete. This recommendation was adopted. Four cakes of three-quarters of a hundredweight each will be made, one for each day of the show. HONEY. In connection with the honey classes, it was pointed out that already there were two exhibits of working hives entered, «nd others were promised. It was suggested that it would be an advantage if a Government apiarist could be obtained to judge, as exhibitors would thus get the benefit of his advice. It was resolved that the secretary apply to the Agricultural Department and ascertain if an official would be available. POWER. The question of power was brought up. It was pointed out that there was a likelihood of several working exhibits, as enquiries had been made us to whether power was being installed. gretting that on enquiry into the matter he found that these dates clashed with those fixed for the Invercnrgill show, viz., June 7 and S, and as it was impracticable to provide a duplicate set of exhibits and officers to arrange and attend'them, the Department would be unable to comply with the request Had the dates proved suitable be would have had pleasure in acceding to the request. .Members "ere of opinion that the exhibit should remain in the North Island, in-tcad of being sent to the South Island. It was resolved that Mr. Okej- be asked to approach the Department again, with a view to having the exhibit here. LECTURES. ■Mr. C. J. Reakes. Director of the Live Stock and Meat Division of the Agricultural Department, wrote that he would he pleased to give a lecture before the members of the Society. He could not, however, commit himself to a date, as his engagements for the next six weeks were very numerous, but suggested that a suitable time would be during Winter Show time in .Tune. The chairman pointed out that Winter •Show time was hardly a suitable time for a lecture. Members of the committee, who would like to obtain any information that Mr. Reakes' lecture would give, would have all their work cut out attending to the Show, ami would thus be debarred from attending. Moreover, there was no convenience in the «how building for a lecture, and it was not advisable to hold the lecture in a hall away from the. Show, and thus detract from the attendance at the Show. It would be better to hold the lecture bofore or after the Show. It was intimated that Mr. Reakes would be in New Plymouth this week, and Messrs Smith. Elliott, the chairman and secretary were appointed to interview him on the matter. It was resolved that the committee should endeavor to arrange with the Department for a lecture by Mr Rait, in charge at Waitara. in some centre to be arranged.
