REBELLION IN MOROCCO
BLOCKADE OF FEZ CONTINUES. GARRISON'S AMMUNITION RUNNING SHORT. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 7, 5.5 p.m. Tangier, May 6. Despite a series of sorties, the blockade of Fez continues. Prices of food are alarming, threatening a famine. Major Bremond's arrival left the northern tribes free to besiege Fez. The morale of Major Bremond's troops has degraded since their arrival. Artillery and ammunition are nearly exhausted, and Major Bremond exhausted his during his march. The Sultan wants money to pay the troops. A SPANISH PROTEST. ANOTHER WARNING TO FRANCE. Received 7, 5.5 p.m. Madrid, May 6. The newspaper Imperial declares that the conduct of France, in Morocco has reached a stage requiring immediate explanation in order to secure peace and reassure the Powers. It emphasises the German semi-official communique showing that no apprehension now existed for the safety of Europeans in Fez, and therefore France was deprived of all pretext for continued mobilisation.
